Brett Harris Qualifies #1 - Sets Track Records - Wins Top Fuel

CORDOVA, IL. (June 25, 2005) - The AC Delco Slingshot Nationals and ThunderFest Event presented by RM Distributing was a huge success. The event featured 250 mile-per-hour Top Fuel Dragsters, flame throwing Jet Cars, Wheelstanders, Nitro Fueled Altereds and Fireworks. “This event has became a national attraction” said Track Operator Scott Gardner.”  Winning the featured show, Top Fuel, was Brett "The Sheriff" Harris from Kaysville, Utah. Harris broke both ends of the track record clocking a 5.94 ET at a whopping 253 MPH. Harris was out first and never looked back as Lechtenberg in Dale & Kat Suhr's Iowa based "Orange Crate" fueler smoked the tires early in the run.

This one was over at the hit as Harris strapped a huge holeshot on Russell and laid down a picture perfect 5.969 at 248.02. The Iowa based car shut off way early to a parts saving 8.654 at just 96.97.

At the end of the night Jack Harris awarded Roger "Radar" Lechtenberg and car owners Dale & Kat Suhr their long overdue 250 MPH Club hats. Radar carded a 252.51 at the 2004 World Series of Drag Racing at Cordova. That gave him the # 6 spot in this exclusive club.
