Boise, Idaho
- April 26-27, 2008: Jack Harris was hungry to reclaim the Fuel Dragster
record the 38th running of the Boise Ignitor. Harris held the
record until Brad Thompson broke it with a 5.83 on Saturday night
of the 2007 Pepsi Nightfire Nationals.
It didn't take
Harris long to not only take back the record but better it by
a tenth and a half! In the first qualifying session he left like
a rocket and never looked back, blitzing the track e.t. record
with a booming 5.69 elapsed time. He tripped the eighth-mile
clocks at 209 miles per hour (with a 60 e.t. of 1.03)...
that's stout!
Not only did
Harris eclipse the track record, but he also found a way to run
in the 5.70s, 80s and 90s, too. During the
weekend, he ran 5.87, 5.99 and a final round 5.79 to stop Howard
Haight who smoked the tires about a hundred feet into his run.
The Botelho, Compston and Patterson Fueler ran a quickest of
6.20 and 6.21, but were outrun in each heat by the Utah team.
