Las Vegas
- May 03-04, 2008: Jack Harris wasn't planning to run the
inaugural Las Vegas
Speed Spectacular at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway but
in spite of the fact the car had never turned a tire he accepted
the invitation to compete.
Using the same
basic tune-up and tires as he used on the Crown Victoria funny
car last year, the outing answered two questions. One, this new
car is a completely different animal and two, when they get it
to hook-up it is going to fly.
On all three
of his qualifying attempts Jack smoked the tires early in the
run. He did get back in it and the car really wanted to run on
the top end with speeds of 230+. After qualifying #6 Harris smoked
the tires in a first round loss to Jeff Utterback in the Pisano
& Matsubara tribute car.
Harris hopes
to get in another test session before his next event, the NHRA Funny Car Fever race at Rocky Mountain
Raceway June 14th.
Here are some photos from the
race - the first of this beauty in action.
