Bakersfield, CA - 10/18/10: Harris Racing brought two cars to Bakersfield... the Nitro Thunder Top Fuel dragster and the Nitro Thunder Firebird Funny Car. One did very well, the other not so much. Brett Harris made it to the weather delayed finals with the dragster and will meet Adam Sorokin at Pomona for the 2010 CHRR Top Fuel title during the NHRA Finals November 11-14.

Jack Harris in the funny car only had two shots at qualifying and smoked the tires on both attempts but got the problem fixed and made a nice test run on Sunday.

Harris took advantage of the offer to use the transporter and some of the crew of the Cox top fuel dragster who was sitting this one out. Here they readying the car for the first qualifying session on Friday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Friday - Qualifying Session One

4 p.m. After some timely delays because of some oil downs Funny Car finally got out for its first session. The temperature was in the low 90s which made the track groove pretty narrow.

1:30 p.m. Unlike the March Meet which offers three shots to qualify, the CHRR offered only two which put the tuners and drivers to the test as they have less room for error and now it was do or die for Harris. The weather remained HOT.

On Sunday Harris came out to test now using M/T tires opposed to the Goodyear's.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The third try was a charm. The M/T tires stayed stuck and Harris pulled away from Harlan Thompson.

 

 

Back in the pits the funny car was lonely as the entire crew was now focused on the dragster.
